Multiple Sclerosis Support

In 2007 and 2008 the members of the Medford Township Police Department
have participated as a team in the City to Shore MS 150 Bike Tour. The
Medford Police team rides along with over 7000 other participants on a 150
bicycle ride from Philadelphia to Ocean City to raise funding and awareness
for Multiple Sclerosis.
Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks
the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal
cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the
limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity,
and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to
another. Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving new
hope to people affected by the disease.
Two members of our extended Medford Police Family suffer from the illness.
It is our hope to work, as a community, to find a cure.
